Breeding Philosophy
Every cat is a living work of art. At PishPish, breeding is not just a skill — it is a responsibility and a passion. Grounded in science, guided by health, and driven by excellence, we are dedicated to breeding exceptional Maine Coons that meet international standards.
Core Philosophy
Three pillars that build the excellence of every PishPish cat
Genetic Health First
All breeding cats undergo genetic testing for Maine Coon hereditary conditions including HCM, SMA, and PKDef. We only select individuals with excellent test results for breeding, ensuring healthy offspring. The coefficient of inbreeding (COI) is strictly maintained at low levels to preserve genetic diversity.
Bloodline Quality
We import top-tier Russian dual bloodline breeding cats and follow WCF breed standards. We focus on key traits including head structure, bone mass, body conformation, and coat quality. Each generation builds upon the improvements of the last, striving for benchmark-level quality.
Temperament & Socialization
A cat's personality determines whether it will thrive in its new home. We conduct systematic socialization training throughout kitten development, ensuring every kitten is stable, affectionate, and family-ready. The Maine Coon is known as the "gentle giant" — we safeguard this defining trait.
Selection Criteria
How we choose breeding pairings — every match is backed by solid reasoning
-
✓
Genetic Compatibility Analyze genetic test results from both parents, exclude combinations carrying disease-causing genes, and ensure healthy offspring.
-
✓
Bloodline Complementarity Evaluate strengths and weaknesses through 5-generation pedigree analysis, selecting pairings that compensate for weaknesses and reinforce strengths.
-
✓
Conformation Matching Assess head structure, bone mass, body length, coat, and other traits against WCF Maine Coon standards, pursuing overall balance and refinement.
-
✓
Temperament Compatibility Maine Coons are known for their gentle, affectionate nature. We ensure both parents have stable, friendly temperaments to pass on these desirable traits.
-
✓
COI Control Every pairing has its coefficient of inbreeding (COI) calculated to ensure it stays within safe thresholds, maintaining genetic diversity and offspring vitality.
-
✓
Breeding Frequency Management Breeding intervals for females strictly follow WCF guidelines, ensuring ample recovery time to protect long-term health and breeding longevity.
WCF Breeding Standards
As a WCF registered cattery, we strictly follow the World Cat Federation's breeding guidelines
Ethical Breeding
We strictly adhere to WCF breeding rules, including minimum breeding age, intervals between litters, and maximum litter limits. All breeding activities are fully documented.
Traceable Pedigrees
Every cat has a complete WCF pedigree certificate with a clear, gap-free 5-generation lineage. Our breeding records are transparent and always available for review.
Health Management
Breeding cats undergo regular health checks, vaccinations, and genetic testing. Kittens complete core vaccines, deworming, and veterinary examination before leaving, accompanied by a written health contract.
Lifetime Commitment
We take lifelong responsibility for every cat from PishPish. Whenever and whatever the need, we are here to provide help and support.
Breeding Process
From planning to new life — every step is carefully designed and scientifically managed
Planning & Selection
Based on genetic testing, pedigree analysis, conformation, and temperament evaluation, we develop a breeding plan and select optimal pairings.
Mating Management
We arrange mating at the optimal point in the female's estrus cycle, monitoring throughout to ensure safety, and documenting timing and frequency.
Pregnancy Care
Pregnancy lasts approximately 65 days. We provide enhanced nutrition, a comfortable environment, and regular prenatal check-ups (X-ray/ultrasound) to monitor maternal and fetal health.
Birth Support
We provide 24-hour attendance during delivery, maintain a temperature-controlled birthing room, record birth weight and condition for every kitten, and offer medical intervention when necessary.
Kitten Development
12-16 weeks of dedicated nurturing, completing vaccinations, deworming, and socialization. We evaluate each kitten's quality and potential, matching them with the most suitable new homes.
Current Breeding Plans
Our ongoing breeding directions and goals
Bloodline Refinement
Continuously incorporate quality bloodlines to optimize head structure, bone mass, and body type, steadily approaching international show-quality standards.
Gene Pool Diversification
Introduce new breeding cats from different bloodlines to expand the gene pool, lower COI, and improve overall population genetic health.
Distinctive Color Lines
While maintaining breed standards, develop uniquely charming color combinations to offer enthusiasts a richer selection.
